The Hillsborough County Public Safety Operation Center is a design-build project with Clark Construction and Dewberry Architecture. The construction of the operation center is structural steel enveloped with 12.5-inch-thick tilt-wall concrete panels and is designed to withstand Category 5 hurricane force winds. The operations center houses a 250-person incident command room, a dispatch center, six breakout rooms, offices for the fire rescue staff, a training center, and the Office of Emergency Management.
OCI Associates provided mechanical, electrical, and fire protection engineering design for the 78,422-square foot project. Our team’s HVAC design includes two 200-ton air cooled chillers with three chilled-water variable-frequency drive pumps. The main 67,000 square foot operations building has three AHU’s, and the 9,900-square foot fleet maintenance building and central energy plant building are each served by one AHU. The fire protection design included a wet and pre-action fire sprinkler system throughout the building. The electrical design included an emergency generator system to power the entire facility in the event of an outage.
