OCI Associates, Inc. provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering design for Buildings G and J located at Pasco-Hernando State College’s West Campus in New Port Richey. Building G is a 30,734 square foot Arts, Letters, Math & Social Sciences Building that needed to be renovated to provide space for 8,397 square feet of additional classrooms, 5,590 square feet of teaching labs and vocational labs, support services and an estimated 2,761 square feet of administrative offices. The expansion was needed to provide updated technology Smart Classrooms and a more collaborative learning environment for both students and faculty.
The Building J is also known as the Alric C.T. Pottberg Library and was originally approximately 21,000 square feet. The project scope involved a full renovation and the addition of 15,583 square feet that would include 11,098 square feet of additional library space, 614 square feet of classrooms, a 1,363 square feet of labs, a 2,508 square foot museum, support and administrative areas. The building was fully occupied during construction and phasing was required so there were minimal disruptions to the students.
