The St. Lucie County Emergency Operations Center is designed to house police dispatch, centralized communications, a records archive and the city’s emergency radio station AM-1670. The new center is the second city owned Category 5 hurricane structure in Palm Beach Gardens capable of withstanding 156 miles per hour winds. The new facility sits between City Hall and the Police department and is loaded with state-of-the-art technology for communication creating a secure command center for emergency personnel. The EOC shares a dispatch department with Palm Beach Gardens, Juno Beach, and Jupiter police departments 24 hours a day which improves efficiency and saves time and money by utilizing the same radio system and resources. Green initiatives include recycled building materials, lights that are activated by automatic motion switches, and sensors that detect the room temperature based on room occupancy. OCI Associates, Inc. provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering design for this Design-Build project.
